The Australia Day Test Tournament Presented by Trelly's Outdoors
Teamed with the launch of the official app for GoFish Nagambie and Australia Day celebrations for our registered competitors, we threw a test tournament over the four days of the Australia Day long weekend.
Read on for all the results and a tournament wrap up!
The premise was simple. Fish from any location in Australia and target Murray Cod, Golden Perch, Redfin or Carp. The remote tournament was free to enter for all registered GoFish Nagambie competitors and was a great chance to get out and test and practice using the app.
The test tournament was a multi-species combined length tournament. Any target species caught counted towards the anglers overall score. Battling it out for some awesome prizes thanks to Trelly’s Outdoors, the competition was tightly contested.
Here are some cool stats for you;
- 188 anglers competed in the tournament
- 233 fish caught, with a total of over 10,000cm of fish across the board
- One angler submitted 48 redfin
A big pat on the back to those who took out the placings;
First Place – Guys Daniels – 2080.89cm
Second Place – Stephen Taylor – 1651.58cm
Third Place – Liz Halliday – 1084.30cm
Congrats to those who also took home the random chance draw prizes;
Random Chance Draw #1 – Darren McConnell
Random Chance Draw #2 – Krystie Holley
We had some massive fish register for the comp, special mentions need to go to;
John Fyfe, who landed the competitions biggest and third biggest 101.44cm and 90.34cm respectively. Absolutely monsters, well done mate!
Rob Starritt, who landed the competitions second biggest cod measuring in at 93.64cm
And rounding out the top four biggest fish is Silvana Digiannantonio with a nice chunky cod at 84.32cm.
This was the first hit-out for competitors to try their hand at using the app. Across the board it was a huge success with most competitors enjoying the experience, using the app with ease and tracking the tournament leaderboard as it unfolded.
For a select few, the app did cause some headaches with initial teething problems. For most, the 24-hour app support was able to work through and help solve issues. For others, the app had larger problems in syncing with some of the 13,000+ android devices.
Our app team will now use results and issues from this tournament to do upgrades and fixes. This was the main driving factor behind the test tournament - to get everyone out using and testing the app, so we have it running like a well oiled machine come April.
There'll be plenty more where this one came from too, so we urge you to get out and test and use the app.
We thank everyone for participating in the test tournament and Trelly’s Outdoors for supplying some awesome prizes.
For those who competed, we’d love to hear your feedback on how you found the process.
For those who weren’t able to compete in this one, there’ll be plenty more to come before April. We urge you all to take part and practice using the app before April!
