Wet a line on Gone Fishing Day!
Outside of GoFish Nagambie, our favourite day of the year, Gone Fishing Day, is Sunday 14 October. It is a great day to wet a line and celebrate our symbolic day as recreational fishers to share our love of fishing! The spring sunshine brings lots of exciting fishing opportunities with some of our favourite’s yellowbelly, trout and snapper all shaping up to be fishing well at the moment.
Gone Fishing Day is an initiative by the Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation, with a vision to get every Australian out fishing to celebrate this special day. It is a great opportunity to take the kids fishing, with lots of family friendly activities being held across the state. All registered Victorian events are listed on the VRFish website https://www.vrfish.com.au/go-fish/gone-fishing-day/. Whether you are a novice or experienced fisher, there will be ample opportunity to hook a fish with lots of the event waterways being stocked ahead of Gone Fishing Day.
Not keen on heading to an event? No worries. Grab a mate or your family, ask your neighbour or work mates to wet a line with you and head out fishing for the day. If you need more of an incentive to wet a line, it is also a recreational fishing licence-free day in Victoria.
We want to see every Victorian picking up a rod, gathering their crew and getting out onto the water to celebrate the third annual Gone Fishing Day!
